A farm a community refused to let die.
When Michael Jimenez was twelve years old, his church handed out a few baby chicks. His mom said no. Michael asked again and again until those few birds became a backyard flock.
Years later, that passion became a business plan that won first place in Texas through the Business Professionals of America. With 250 chicks, a small loan from Mark Jones Jr., and rented land in Colleyville, JMZ Farms was born.
Then the farm nearly disappeared. When developers purchased the property, Michael wrote his customers an honest letter explaining that the future of JMZ Farms was uncertain.
What happened next changed everything. Customers and supporters rallied behind the farm, and with the help of William and Angela Stearman, JMZ Farms was able to purchase the 25 acres in Bridgeport that it calls home today.
